Maritime history and art on the menu at second Viola gin night

Viola Trawler Post

24th June 2019

Following the success of the launch of the Viola Trawler Old Tom Gin the trustees are delighted to announce a second special event to raise funds and awareness for the campaign to return the Viola to Hull.

The exclusive dinner will take place at 1884 Wine & Tapas Bar at 6.00pm for 6.30pm on Wednesday 17 July 2019.

The evening will feature Viola-themed cocktails devised by Emma Kinton and Simon Pownall of Hotham’s Distillery. Dinner will be served in the acclaimed tapas style of the award-winning restaurant, and gin will feature in many of the dishes.

Dr Robb Robinson, renowned historian, co-author of Viola: The Life and Times of a Hull Steam Trawler, and a Trustee of the campaign will talk about the remarkable history of the vessel.

Larry Malkin, a maritime artist who is currently working on a calendar featuring the Viola and other ships closely linked to Hull’s nautical heritage, will paint while we dine.

We will also be joined by leading figures from Hull City Council to brief us on the latest developments around the Yorkshire’s Maritime City project.

Places are available now at £40 each, which includes a donation of £10 to the Viola Trust, payable to the restaurant on the night.
